Paint Parties

Paint Parties are an opportunity to get together with family and friends in a relaxed setting while you create your own work of art in 2 hours. Lead by owner and artist Mark DeRaud and his wife Wendy, you will learn how to paint in the style of impressionist painters Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and others, with the drawing already printed on your 16″x20″ canvas.

Our Paint Parties are usually on a Wednesday or Thursday evening from 7-9 pm, or on a Saturday afternoon from 1-3 pm. Canvas, paint, brushes, apron, and refreshment are provided. $35 per person. Gift certificates are available at the bar. To find the soonest Paint Party, you will find information on this website. Sign-up and purchase tickets in advance here:

About our Artists

61090_139562062755727_4201898_nBefore he became the owner of Mia Cuppa Caffe’, Mark DeRaud supported his family as a professional artist here in Fresno. He created the paintings for the humorous murals you’ve seen at Me ’N Ed’s Pizzerias, and the tropical murals at Irene’s Cafe’ in the Tower District. Along with creating commissioned paintings and extensive murals in many of Fresno’s finest homes, Mark’s largest project was the altar piece at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Champlain and Perrin, and their Stations of the Cross which spans the back of their sanctuary in life-sized canvases.

Mark is also an excellent teacher who taught drawing, painting and art appreciation at Fresno Pacific University. Mark has shown at Fresno’s Art Hop, namely at Broadway Studios, Sorensen’s, K Jewel, in his own gallery on Olive Avenue and now has paintings throughout the cafe’. Mark will be leading you through the steps of painting like some of the old masters, including favorites like Van Gogh and Chagall. Mark will also be teaching a class called Drawing Closer to God, and other painting and drawing classes.

Wendy DeRaud has drawn and painted most of her life, when she wasn’t raising 3 children and helping run Mia Cuppa Caffe’. She has taught art at the high school level, and loves seeing people come alive with their creative gifts. Wendy will be directing Paint Parties after the style of Claude Monet, the French Impressionist painter. She recently began finding the beauty in our own backyard, and has created impressionistic paintings of Central Valley and Sierra landscapes inspired by the work of local nature photographer, Paul Mullins, hoping to use these for future Paint Parties as well.
